IoT Device Architectures and Programming
Stub. Integrated circuits in practice, the challenges and approaches to data encoding, microcontrollers and programmable circuits (FPGAs), and how IoT platform components are assembled and programmed — including a concrete introduction to Arduino.
Moves up a level from raw circuits to how real IoT devices are architected and built: integrated circuits and breakout modules as building blocks, the problem of encoding data reliably over a physical channel (and the approaches used to solve it), and the two dominant computational platforms — microcontrollers (fixed instruction set, low power) and programmable circuits/FPGAs (reconfigurable hardware). Closes with how these components are assembled into a working platform and programmed in practice, using Arduino as the concrete example.
