Enterprise IoT Networking

Stub. Wired networking as the on-ramp from IoT devices to backend services: reference architectures for IoT, the Layer 2/Layer 3 split, L2 switching vs. L3 routing, Ethernet forwarding and learning switches, and network virtualization with VLANs.

Once data leaves the wireless mesh, it has to cross a wired enterprise network to reach IoT services (gateways, databases, backends) — and that network has to handle demands the wireless side doesn’t: strong segmentation, ultra-dense first-hop deployments, and predictable performance. Covers standard reference architectures for IoT networks, the division of labor between Layer 2 switching and Layer 3 routing, how Ethernet forwarding and self-learning switches work, and VLANs as the mechanism for logically segmenting a physical network.
